Dr. Angela Lucterhand
Dr. Angela Lucterhand is one of the treating chiropractors at Amberwood Terrace Chiropractic, and her skills allow us to offer more services and exciting new perspectives. We would like to take this opportunity to share a little bit of information as to how Dr. Angela decided to become a chiropractor, where her interests lie, and what opportunities that presents for our patients.
Dr. Angela was born and raised in Elkhart, IN and attended Elkhart Central High School. After graduation, she attended Indiana University-Bloomington with a major in Criminal Justice/Premed and a minor in Biology. Her original ambition was to attend medical school and practice as a forensic pathologist. One day during a routine autopsy, she decided that she would rather dedicate herself to saving lives. Meanwhile, she was taking yearly trips to Honduras with a nonprofit organization that brings medical brigades to underdeveloped nations. During her journeys, she found a passion for serving the underprivileged and decided the Peace Corps would be her next step.
Upon completing her undergraduate studies, Dr. Angela was selected by the Peace Corps to be a Health Education Specialist in Mali, W. Africa. Most of her time was spent teaching the local villagers important information about sanitation, nutrition, and disease prevention. She also worked alongside the women at the clinics on obstetrics and infant mortality issues. As she was finishing her time in Africa, she was faced with the decision about the next step in her career. After considering her ideas about health and healing from a natural, non-invasive approach, she decided to postpone medical school and consider the alternative options. During this time, she discovered her ideas paralleled that of chiropractic, and she immediately applied to chiropractic school at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA.
While at Palmer, she taught a majority of the anatomy labs in addition to doing a radiology internship. She was a member of the Academic Standings Committee, Ethics Panel, Student International Chiropractic Association, and Indiana’s Chiropractic Association. Academically, she received the honor of being a member of the Pi Tau Delta society for academic excellence in addition to graduating as a Presidential Scholar. She graduated with honors as Magna Cum Laude and was recognized for her service in Vietnam where she provided chiropractic care in the community hospitals during her clinical internship.
She embraces a holistic approach and emphasizes restoration of a healthy internal environment to prevent and eliminate disease processes. As a result, she is adding services of nutritional consultation, rehabilitative therapy, and soft tissue treatments in addition to chiropractic care to the office. She is excited to help patients discover how true health can enrich their lives.
